"Molecular and neurophysiological pathways that promote microglia-mediated neuronal remodeling in response to chronic stress"
Résumé
The talk will expound on our initial report that showed chronic stress increased CSF1 signaling in the medial PFC, leading to microglial phagocytosis of neuronal elements that contribute to synaptic deficits and development of depressive-like behaviors (Wohleb et al, Biological Psychiatry, 2017). New results show that chronic stress-induced glucocorticoid signaling and increased neuronal activation in the medial PFC promote CSF1 signaling and functional changes in microglia. Preliminary studies also show divergent sex-dependent and laminar-specific microglial responses to chronic stress, which may underlie different behavioral and cognitive impairments.
