"The Oxidative Phosphorylation System revisited"

Abstract :
José Antonio Enríquez is Group Leader at CNIC (Centro nacional de investigaciones cardiovasculares, Madrid, Spain). His work focuses on functional consequences of the genetic variability of mtDNA and developing of new models of the structural organization of the ETC. Research from his laboratory has tremendously contributed our understanding of the processes by which cells optimize and molecularly regulate their metabolic capacity, inducing structural changes in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. He will be presenting his latest work on mother-to-offspring transmission of mitochondrial DNA, and on the assembly of ETC assembly. He is involved in many international networks and is a HFSP researcher. His lectures are of high quality and very comprehensive.
