"Dissecting Molecular Networks in Synapse: From Genome Editing to FRET Imaging"
Résumé
Our brain functions depend on proper connections between tens of billions of neurons. These connections or synapses are considered to be disrupted in many neuropsychiatric disorders, such as autism, schizophrenia, and mental retardation. However, detailed molecular mechanisms underlying synaptic function and dysfunction are largely unknown. In this seminar, I will introduce my recent studies to probe endogenous proteins and image signal transduction in single synapses using CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing and various optical techniques. In addition, I will discuss how these advanced tools can help for the deeper understanding of molecular regulation of synapse structure and function.
