"Genomics of antimicrobial resistance"
Abstract :
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is complicating the management of infectious diseases and the practice of medicine. Several approaches and efforts are necessary to control AMR. Our efforts have concentrated in studying (and exploiting) AMR to i) develop tools to recognise resistance; ii) suggest ways for rationale use of drug combinations; iii) pinpoint intracellular targets. We have developed and are using gain and loss of function whole genome screens that we are applying for both parasites and bacteria. The results of those screens are accelerating our understanding of resistance and in finding novel drug targets. I will also describe how this work has integrated with Université de Bordeaux investigators under the auspices of a 2018 IdEx Bordeaux visiting scholarship.
